Jewelry made from Vintage Tins and soldered metal
Odd, old and overlooked, the humble tin container. Each vintage tin is a small glimpse into the passage of time and no longer feels useful. Upscale upcycling is now an art form that encourages trash to treasure mentality. I simply enjoy the thrill of the hunt to find the most colorful and strange tin vessels to create modern day jewelry, be it everyday pieces or just for fun. I like to use the Tiffany soft solder method, borrowed from stained glass making. You can now use a lead-free solder for safety in jewelry. Often, I will employ metal smithing techniques, use various additional metals such as copper, brass or silver. I try to use vintage findings whenever possible!
