Celebrate Salem Art Days and the Salem Arts Festival at the Salem Athenaeum! From
May 31st through June 4th, the Athenaeum will be hosting a variety of art-focused events,
including the opportunity to paint and sketch the beautiful blooms in our garden. Learn about our
art collection, which includes paintings by notable local and international artists like Childe
Hassam, Gustave Courbet, and Michele Felice Cornè, on a guided tour. Visiting with little ones?
Go on a scavenger hunt within our paintings to help us find our lost sheep and cows! The week
will culminate with our First Annual Invitational Art Exhibition, “Salem En Plein Air,” to be held on
Saturday evening during our Garden Party and fundraiser [insert times]. This exhibition will
feature a selection of artworks by local artists who were asked to interpret “views of Salem” in
their chosen medium and style. All artwork will be available for purchase.
