Learning From Our Mistakes: Researching the Salem Witch Trials
April 21, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeHistory is like a game of telephone: an incorrect fact can be passed from person to person and become conventional wisdom. Through diligent research, historians strive to untangle these errors.
Join the Salem Witch Museum for an hour long, free virtual lecture given by the Department of Education. In this talk, they will discuss some misconceptions about the Salem witch trials, highlighting how mistakes are made, repeated, and eventually corrected. Where were the innocent victims executed? Were bored, teenage girls to blame? What is the ergot theory?
The presentation will be recorded and shared on the Salem Witch Museum YouTube page for future accessibility. Registration is not required. The link will be posted on the Salem Witch Museum website and Facebook page prior to the lecture.
