My focus as an artist has been about creating conversation and bridges between one thing and the next. The subject matter that I enjoy most is based on organic beings, plants, animals, and other earth-made matter that we can see and feel. I find interest in zooming in and finding abstraction within recognizable objects. This particular piece is based on the love and belonging we all find in each other portrayed through mourning doves and certain plants native to Massachusetts. These plants are to symbolize new beginnings, family, and resilience. As we come together in Salem to enjoy and embrace the arts in all it’s forms, I feel this connects to what we all look for in these spaces: emotional and/or spiritual fulfillment in communities we can identify with.
